Linda Shaw | Principal
Linda established the Linda Shaw Dance Centre (LSDC) in 1977 and with more than 37 years experience is one of the most respected teachers in Australia. Many past and present students of the LSDC have been accepted into prestigious national and international junior and senior training programs and successfully pursued professional careers in ballet companies, musicals, television, cruise ships and dance education.
Linda trained in classical ballet under Beverley Rowles and after working professionally as a dancer and choreographer furthered her Classical and National Character education in the USSR.
Linda has been a Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) accredited teacher for 37 years, an Australian Eisteddfod Adjudicator for 20 years and is one of the few teachers worldwide recognised as a mentor for student teachers training through the R.A.D.
Allegra began her training in Classical, Contemporary, National Character, Jazz and Tap at the LSDC at the age of 4. Securing the role of Mrs Meers in WHSPA’s production of Thoroughly Modern Milly at the age of 15 ignited a love of Musical Theatre that took Allegra to the prestigious Australian Institute of Music where she completed a Bachelor Degree in Music majoring in Musical Theatre.
Allegra’s roles include Mavis in Stepping Out, Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel, Morales in A Chorus Line, Donna/Oolie in City of Angels, Ado Annie in Oklahoma and Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes.
Along with performing Allegra made her directorial debut in 2012 when she presented ‘Company’ with the Arcadian Theatre Group and looks forward to directing Thoroughly Modern Milly for the Arcadians and Choreographing Godspell for the Phoenix Theatre in 2014.
Tanya began her training in Classical, National Character and Modern Dance with the LSDC at the age of 5. After being accepted into the renowned Halliday Dance Centre at the age of 15 Tanya continued her studies in Classical and Contemporary Dance under the guidance of Joan and Monica Halliday and guest teachers, artists and choreographers from world leading schools and companies including The Royal Ballet and Royal Birmingham Ballet, The School of American Ballet, The Australian Ballet, the Martha Graham Dance Company and Sydney Dance Company.
Tanya also has a Communications degree from the University of Wollongong and undertakes continuing professional teacher development studies with the RAD and Dance Physiotherapists.
Tanya has taught at the LSDC since 2000
