The Junior Program caters for children from 3 to 10 years of age and introduces children to the art of dance by allowing them to explore their creativity and express themselves through movement and music. The program is progressive and advances students in an age appropriate way to ensure that they develop their skills safely.
Our junior students enjoy success in all styles of dance with 4 students accepted into the prestigious Australian Ballet School Junior Interstate Program for 2014. Our consistently strong results in RAD ballet examinations and continued success in both troupe and individual sections in Illawarra and Sydney eisteddfods is a testament to the quality of our curriculum and staff.
As well as providing a sound technical platform for the further study of dance, participation in dance classes of all styles provides many additional benefits to our young students including:
- • Improved Motor skills and Coordination
• Enhanced Attention and Listening skills
• Confidence and Personal Resilience
Dance styles offered in the junior school include:
- • Ballet (RAD)
• Contemporary (ATOD)
• National Character (RAD)
• Tap (ATOD) and
• Musical Theatre
Allocation to group classes is based on age and experience. Private tuition is available in all styles to further support and enhance group learning or prepare students for examinations and competitions. All allocations to group classes and arrangements for private tuition are made in consultation with the schools Director, Linda Shaw Wilson.
All students in the junior program have the opportunity to participate in special events including Eisteddfods, Examinations and the end of year Showcase. Participation in these events is optional but encouraged.
2014 timetables will be available early in the new year.
